For both Cantonese and Chiuchow, 是細 can be used only as a reply to the question ‘是大還是細?’.

Yes, 是細 can be used only as a reply to that question... but what about the Cantonese 係小 ? Is that also just a reply to a question?
If it is just a reply, then I must keep thinking about my story for another year, or maybe five years, or maybe A HUNDRED years, until a find a solution that is perfect. It does not have be a Chinese expression, it could to be Thai or English as well, but English does not have a suitable word.
