Macdull video -失敗 is the mother is success question

I know this is a trivial question but any help would be appreciated. I was watching this video for character study and I heard two different pronunciations of 堅定. The mother at first kept saying 'in ding' and it kind of sounded like 'in1 ding6'. I was lost until at the end Macdull said 'gin1 ding6' and it matched the definition on this site.

So my question is it very common for this phrase to be shortened to 'in1 ding6'? In casual talk can you drop the g-sounds sometimes and it's acceptable?

In the meantime, here are the words I learned from the video, maybe some of you will find them useful.

節儉 jit3 gihm6 - being good with saving money
孝義 haau3 yihm6 - showing filial piety
驕傲 giu1 ngouh6 - proud, arrogant
智慧 ji3 waih6 - wisdom, knowledge

If you can understand the video you can see how they are all 'related' to each other.

Thank you 大家,
Matt
