I am trying to find a Cantonese expression for the English word borough in its OLD sense. So when I speak about borough, I don't mean these modern meanings immediately below:
- a town or urban constituency in Great Britain that sends a member to Parliament
- an urban area in Great Britain incorporated for purposes of self-government
- a municipal corporation proper in some states (such as New Jersey and Minnesota) corresponding to the incorporated town or village of the other states

Let me be more exact. What I mean is some kind of a walled town, maybe inside a bigger town, but the latter meaning is not necessary. I asked elsewhere I found out that the modern English word that best corresponds my idea is "fortress". But actually walled town is what I am after. The word should not have strong military connotations.
A long time ago I asked a question about bou, 堡, using another nick then, but I cannot find that message any more. I think that the expression 堡壘 - bou leoi - is the word that I am searching for.
Am I right?
Anyway, I need the word bou.
