Hi
I understand this sentence on the surface:子不語怪力亂神 = Confucius never say strange force messy spirits (?) but was wondering when is this phrase best used? I noticed on some pages in was just broken into the following: 怪力亂神. If I see this one, I would think it just means 'haunted''. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
子不語 means "An intellectual man do not speak about"
怪力亂神 originally meant " unholy supernatural power and rebellious gods". Generally refers to "supernatural phenomenon" nowadays
子不語怪力亂神 means: " Intellectual men do not blame bad things happening on unholy supernatural power or rebellious gods)
>but was wondering when is this phrase best used?
When you write dialogues for period TV. drama. A character can quote this phrase in his speech.
