I know how 内 behaves, but how does the word 里 behave?
I mean: what is the difference between these two expressions?
室里
and
里室 ?
The word 室 , room, is just an example here, it could be some other word too.
Thanks.
As far as my limited understanding goes:
室里 - “In the room"
X里室X - I think this is missing extra characters (marked by X's), since "里" as a post-position won't go in front of a noun like this. (I know of no compounds where 里 goes first, except for things like 裡頭 or 裡面 where I think it becomes a noun which functions independently.)
If we could form a noun like 里室, though, it would probably mean 'inner room'.
