zaap - to be sketchy

Hi all,

I was told that there is a word in Cantonese with the pronunciation of "zaap" (zaap6) which was to describe a place of being sketchy (in the dangerous, unsafe way) - usually to describe a neighborhood that might be dangerous to walk in. I couldn't find a hanzi character, but not sure if there is one. Has anyone heard of the character/word?
