It is a rank among tradesmen or craftsmen, if you're a carpenter, you would know what your rank is within the trade. For outsider, journeymen may be a rarely heard term, but for an apprentice carpenter, the idea of advance to journeyman rank would occupy his mind most of his waking hours.
Do you know what 幫廚 means? To an outsider, it might sounded like " assistant chef " but in the cooking industry, a 幫廚 is in fact, an apprentice
